在翻譯時如何使用標點符號?

　　剛學翻譯時，常常會因為標點符號的問題不知所措，標點符號運用不當會導致一句話成了另一種意思，那么，今天翻譯公司為大家介紹在翻譯時如何使用標點符號?

　　When you first learn to translate, you are often at a loss because of punctuation. Improper use of punctuation can lead to a sentence becoming another meaning. Today, the translation company introduces how to use punctuation in translation?

　　一般人遇上標點符號，總有一種肅然起敬的感覺，把它當成一種特殊的對象來看待，殊不知標點符號，根據字典的解釋，不過是“字旁或字下面的點形、線形等各種符號，用以標明人名、地名或點、逗、句讀”而已。換言之，標點符號是語文的附屬部分，翻譯時，既然連詞性句形都可以改變，那么，譯者何以要死守陣地，揪住原文中的幾個符號而不肯放手?

　　When people encounter punctuation, they always have a sense of awe. They regard it as a special object, but they don't know that punctuation. According to the dictionary, it's just "punctuation, line and other symbols beside or under the words, used to indicate the names of people, places or points, teasing and sentences". In other words, punctuation is a subsidiary part of Chinese. Since the conjunctions can be changed in translation, why should translators cling to the position and grasp several symbols in the original text instead of letting go?

　　英文中常用的一些符號，如長句中的括號、破折號，同位語前后的逗號，以及副詞單獨出現后的逗號等，在中文里是很少使用的。假如譯者在學習寫作或嘗試詩句翻譯，則又另當別論。

　　Some symbols commonly used in English, such as brackets, dashes in long sentences, commas before and after appositions, and commas after adverbs appear alone, are rarely used in Chinese. If the translator is learning to write or trying to translate the poem, it is another matter.

　　當然，例外的情況也有。例如超現實主義小說《黑娃的故事》中某些片段，往往長達十行，其中關系子句環環相扣，步步連營，而主句之外層層疊疊的內容，必須靠括號或破折號來交代。為了再現原著濃厚的超現實主義色彩，在翻譯時就不得不酌量保持一些原文中特有的表現方式，而平時不常使用的破折號，也在譯文中頻頻出場了。

　　Of course, there are exceptions. For example, some fragments in the Surrealist novel "the story of Heiwa" are often as long as ten lines, in which the relative clauses are closely linked, and the contents outside the main sentences are overlapped, which must be explained by brackets or dashes. In order to reproduce the strong surrealist color of the original work, we have to maintain some unique ways of expression in the original text, while the dashes, which are not often used in translation, also appear frequently in the translation.
